I just left a voice mail on my wife's identical phone (purchased at the same time/place) and her phone also does NOT show the red dot with new voice mail. The it does buzz when one is left, shows a missed call dot, and the notification bar shows a new e-mail, but NO red dot on the green voice mail icon.
