Apparently the new ES gearshift spindle is not attached to the back engine cover, but the Foot Shift is (just like both models pre 2007).It only has about 41 miles on it and could still just be breaking in but it does feel off while shifting. I've noticed when the ATV is cold it is definitely harder to shift. The foot shifter just does not want to go up into the next gear. Plus ES is usually a more expensive fix if something goes wrong. Probably the worst thing is it's hard to drink a beer while you're riding on an ES. If you're going to do this, I would just change the shifter shaft. Change #11 to #10 with the splines on it and buy a foot shifter to go on it. Then, just remove the shift motor reduction gears and bolt the shift motor back on. Removing the gears will make it easier to shift because it won't have to turn the shift motor.

RRR1. 122 posts · Joined 2014. #20 · May 10, 2014. my 06 rancher and 01 foreman have what feels like wheel wobble when you shake the wheel. what it actually is the bushing or bearing in the lower end of the shocks is wore out. you can buy shock bearing rebuild kits on ebay fairly cheap. 1994 Suzuki 250 quad runner 2x4.The 2014 manual should be about the same as 2013, as far as the ES system goes. It sounds like a gear position switch or connector plug issue. You will need a decent multimeter to test the switch. If it is an intermittent problem that switch might test good but still be bad.Finally had enough of the ES on our '04 Rancher. Basically my plan is to remove remove the shift gears on the front crankcase over and then replace the shifter shaft with one from a manual shift rancher, and add a standard shift lever. We'll see when the time comes if I run into any snags. Gone. You can find me at www.************.My advice is to yank the shift motor, remove the reduction gears, and then reinstall the shift motor (to keep water out of the engine) and then weld on the emergency shifter (or better, swap in a footshift spindle and shifter). It will shift but you really have to jam it into gear.
