Refering to the '06 touring models,the service manual says 32 ozs.The owners maual says to fill to bottom of clutch spring.I had to add about another 5 ozs to get the level to the clutch spring.No abnormal clutch action with this amount. This was done with the bike level.

If all you are doing is changing the primary oil, you just remove the small drain plug, check condition of o-ring (replace if needed), and refill (with right amount) thru the inspection cover which does not always have to have a new gasket.
